Hayward’s 4-H Club held its monthly meeting Sept. 16 and held a bonfire.

The Hayward 4-H Club met for its monthly meeting on Sept. 16 at the Kermes home. President Derek Wagner called the meeting to order. The group welcomed guest, Megan Thorson, 4-H program coordinator for Freeborn County Extension Services.

There were a lot of things to talk about during the meeting. Many of the 4-H members stood up to talk about their experiences during the past couple of months. The group had some 4-H’ers talk about the Hayward 4-H float that was in the Third of July parade, the 4-H county fair dog show, their county fair projects and the state fair.

The group’s 4-H project records were turned in to the key leader to be judged next month. After the meeting the group had a pot luck and a bon fire and ate a lot of good food. The group would like to say thank you to the Kermes and Englin families for hosting the meeting and pot luck. The next meeting will be on Oct. 7 at Shari and Al Wagner’s home. During the meeting election of officers will be held followed by a dance.
