The commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights is slated to visit Albert Lea Thursday for a public forum.
Commissioner Kevin Lindsey is expected to discuss the pros and cons of the two Constitutional amendments on the November ballot: one would require all voters to produce a photo ID at the polls, and the second would limit the status of marriage to opposite sex couples by defining marriage as solely between one man and one woman.
The forum is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Albert Lea City Hall.
In addition, Lindsey is expected to talk about the change in the state’s demographics in the past decade and how it will affect jobs, education and the state’s economic future, according to a news release. He will also provide an overview of the department’s activities to end discrimination and its goals and initiatives for the year.
A public comment and question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
