John Jensen, Grants Pass, Ore.

John S. Jensen, Grants Pass, Ore., formerly of Albert Lea, went to be with his Lord and savior on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at his home, following a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.

John was born Sept. 14, 1949, to M. Clayton and Mary (Popowicz) Jensen in Queens, N.Y. His family moved to Albert Lea in 1960. While in Albert Lea he worked at Crown Auto.

John lived in California before moving to Oregon where he was a co- founder of Isaiah 58 Ministry with his friend, Merle, in 2002, in Grants Pass, Ore. Isaiah 58 Ministry would go to different counties in Oregon and would feed, clothe and minister to the homeless.

He will truly be missed by those who survived him; his children: Kristin (Bobby) Harness and their children: Daniel and Jasmine of Westminster, Colo.; Kelli Jensen (Jason Hensche) and their child: Ethan of Clarks Grove, Dawn Michelle of California and son Derek.

Also surviving is his eight siblings: JoAnn Jensen of Phoenix, Ariz., James Jensen of Klamath Falls, Ore., Patricia (Michael) Wilson of Lubbock, Texas, Joyce (Roger) Schaper of Bricelyn and Joseph Jensen of Albert Lea,  Jeanette Lein of Sturgis, S.D., Bob Jensen of Lubbock, Texas, and Liz (Troy) Johnson of Albert Lea; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and ex-wife, Julie (Tovar) Connelly.

Preceded him in death are his parents, M. Clayton Jensen (March 9, 1975), Mary (Popowicz) Jensen (Feb. 21, 2010); grandparents: Joseph and Amelia (Stuicz) Popowicz and James and Meliva Jensen.

John was a very devoted Christian who loved the Lord very deeply. His family meant so very much to him. His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in Ashland, Ore., on Sept. 12.
