The Global United International Pageant was held Aug. 22-25 in St. Paul. Sherry Westland, of Albert Lea, was proud to represent the United States as a winner by being crowned Senior Ms. Global United. She competed with 26 accomplished women worldwide in the areas of interview and on stage question, personality wear, community service and evening gown.
“I chose this pageant because women are celebrated for being committed to serving others in the community and possessing true inner beauty,” Westland said.
Global United is a permanent partner with Isaac’s Journey to help raise funds for childhood cancer research. This is why each crown holds a dimensional gold ribbon in the center of the crown to represent Childhood Cancer Awareness. The Global United Pageant is also committed to organizations from all over the world by supporting the charities their titleholders choose as platforms. As a winner, the pageant donated money to Westland’s charity: the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Westland’s pageant experience was a positive one.
“I met women from all over the world and forged friendships that will last a lifetime,” Westland said.
Westland wants to thank those in the Albert Lea community who donated materials and money to help her plan a party for children with cancer.
Westland is honored to represent senior women worldwide as Sr. Ms. Global United 2012.
“I represent the new era of competent gifted seniors who live longer, are more independent and have much to accomplish for others in this season of life,” Westland said.
During her reign she plans to be an advocate for Isaac’s Foundation and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
If you would like to help her raise funds for Isaac’s Foundation, she is selling various items. Westland would love to help you promote your event, or speak at service clubs, etc. If you want to hear more about the pageant and her platforms, please contact her at joyfumfuni@yahoo.com.
