TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Representatives of President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are scheduled to discuss the candidates’ positions on protecting the Great Lakes during a meeting with advocates.
Both campaigns have been invited to attend the forum today in Cleveland during the annual Great Lakes Week, which brings together environmentalists, scientists and policymakers.
Leaders of the Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition are seeking pledges from the presidential candidates to continue funding an Obama administration program that has pumped more than $1 billion into Great Lakes restoration projects.
