The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary met Aug. 13 at the Legion Hall with President Eunice Hatleli presiding.

Report was given of the July cookie bake held at the Moose Club for the Interstate 35 rest stop coffee break. For the event, 140 dozen cookies were baked and donated to the REACT club to be distributed over the Fourth of July holiday.

It is time for the 2012-13 membership drive. Continuous dues are $15 and $18 for new members. The group does not send out dues reminders but had its annual free membership salad luncheon on Wednesday at the Legion Club. People can pay their dues there or mail them to the new treasurer Lynda Vermedahl, 216 Main St., Twin Lakes, MN 56089.

Remember the group does have a cancer grant program where people are eligible just by keeping up their dues.

The group had the new auxiliary cancer pin, small sunflower with pink cancer ribbon, for sale that day for $4. The sunflower is the Minnesota Department President Cindy Tews’ symbol.

Lynda has been elected to treasurer for 2012-13 as sister Beverly Boone has resigned after about 20 years as auxiliary treasurer. She is a 66-year member of the auxiliary and has held many offices during those years. The group is grateful and sincerely thanks her for her dedicated service all these years.

Vickie Allen served lunch and Hatleli won the door prize.

Next meeting was scheduled for Sept. 10 at the Legion Hall at 7 p.m.
