Funeral services for Muriel E. Anderson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Muriel died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at her home at Thorne Crest Retirement Community.

Muriel E. Anderson was born in Albert Lea, the daughter of Elmore and Hulda (Calvin) Olson. She grew up in Albert Lea where she graduated from high school. She then attended the Mankato Business School. On Feb. 7, 1945, Muriel was united in marriage to Leland M. Anderson in Little Rock, Ark. Muriel worked as a secretary at Wilson & Co. for many years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary and First Baptist Church where she was active in ladies activities. Muriel enjoyed traveling, reading and was a sports fan. She especially enjoyed watching the Vikings and Twins.

Survivors include her sister Margaret Jensen of Albert Lea; niece Merrie (Ron) Rheaume of Minneapolis; nephews Bruce (Donna) Jensen of Albert Lea and Wayne Jensen of Winona; and great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband Leland; sisters Virginia (Victor) Johnson and Eleanor Halsey; brother-in-law Earl Jensen; nephew Larry Jensen; and great-nephew Tommy Jensen.

Muriel’s family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care Muriel received at Thorne Crest.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church or Thorne Crest.
