Funeral services for Neva Lien will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Neva died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Charlottesville, Va.

Neva Ida Marchetta Lien was born Dec. 21, 1926, to Martin and Elsie (Levad) Hovland in Worth County, Iowa. She grew up in Worth County and attended school in Fertile, Iowa. On Oct. 26, 1946, Neva was united in marriage to Sanford Lien at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Neva enjoyed being a homemaker for many years. She was a longtime faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. Neva was also an active member of the Hannah Circle. She enjoyed traveling with Sanford, baking, visiting family and friends and having lunches with church ladies.

Survivors include her daughters: Diane (Lanny) Butler of Charlottesville, Va., and Debra (Arlin) Thompson of Sisseton, S.D.; grandchildren: Elisabeth Butler of Roanoke, Va., and Andrew Butler of Washington, D.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sanford; sisters Gyda Peterson and Beulah Felland; brothers: Marvin, Juner, Homer and Arlo Hovland.
