Capt. Mackenzie C. Johnson recently received an Air Medal award, which is given for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.

Johnson is an Alden-Conger High School graduate.

Johnson distinguished herself by meritorious achievement while participating in sustained aerial flight as a flight nurse, 10th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight, 313th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, 721st Air Mobility Operations Group, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, from May 10, 2011, to Aug. 16, 2011.

During this period, the professional skill, airmanship and dedication to duty exhibited by Johnson contributed immensely to the unit’s operational medical capability in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and New Dawn.

She provided direct support to 381 sick and injured Department of Defense and coalition forces on 20 missions aboard C-17 and KC-135 aircraft. Her unwavering dedication to mission readiness and expert clinical skills ensured the safe, expeditious delivery and quality care of patients transported out of the Southwest Asia area of responsibility to higher and more definitive echelons of care, directly contributing to the 99 percent survivability rate of injured personnel once they have entered the aeromedical evacuation system.

The professional ability and outstanding aerial accomplishments of Johnson reflect great credit upon herself and the U.S. Air Force.
