A.L. swimmers beat records

The Albert Lea swimming and diving team competed in the preliminaries of the Section 1A meet Wednesday at Ellis Middle School in Austin.

Albert Lea swam record times in six different events.

In the 200-yard medley, the relay of Bailey Sandon, Lindsey Horejsi, Ahnika Jensen and Anna Andersen swam a time of 1 minute, 50.15 seconds to beat the section record, 1:51.82, set by last year’s Albert Lea team of Kemma Bergland, Morgan Field, Galen Schulz and Horejsi.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Horejsi swam a time of 24.41 to beat the record of 25.14 and also swam a time of 1:03.58 to beat the 1:10.78 record in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Andersen placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and swam a time of 55.16 beating the record of 55.29.

Placing second in the 200-yard freestyle, the relay team of Andersen, Jensen, Haley Simon and Horejsi beat the 1:43.21 record with a time of 1:41.38.

The sixth record the Tigers beat was by Sandon who placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.17 to beat a 1:03.59 record.

The Tigers will compete again Friday in Austin.
