Funeral services for Janet Ravenhorst will be at 2 p.m. today at the Hollandale Reformed Church. The Revs. Neal Ooms and Perry Raak will officiate. Interment will be at the Hollandale Cemetery. Janet passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at her home in Kent, Wash.

Janet Ravenhorst

Janet Ravenhorst was born Dec. 26, 1917, in Milaca County to John and Jennie (Timmer) Nyenhuis. She graduated from Pease Christian School. On April 10, 1940, Janet was united in marriage to John Ravenhorst Jr. in Pease. Janet and John then moved to Hollandale where they farmed, and Janet enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church. Janet enjoyed flowers and flower gardening, needlework, quilting, baking, traveling and going on cruises in her later years.

Survivors include her children, Cherie (Perry) Raak of Kent, Wash., and Randi (Ted) Corbin of Pinetop, Ariz.; grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle) Corbin, Cari (Eric) Smith, Trevin (Megan) Raak, Tineke (Donovan) Raak Hanke, TenĂ¡e (Robert) Raak Linares and Terika Raak; great-grandchildren: Jared Smith, Chael Raak, Benjamin Raak and Anora Raak Hanke; sisters: Louise (Robert) Medd of Hollandale and Alice Pluimer of Milaca; sisters-in-law: Lanora Ravenhorst and Alice Muilenburg both of Hollandale; and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers: Peter, Fred and Henry Nyenhuis; sisters: Marie VanDeRiet and Nina Bahlman; and brothers-in-law: Henry and Herman Ravenhorst; and sister-in-law, Josephine Lins.
