Raymond Beck, 91, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Raymond Frederic Beck age 91, of Albert Lea, will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel.  The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bayview on Wednesday. Ray passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Raymond Beck

Raymond Fredric Beck was born on May 26, 1921, in Pickerel Lake Township, the son of Fredric and Anna (Huber) Beck. He grew up in Conger and the Albert Lea area, graduating from Albert Lea High School. On Dec. 12, 1944, Ray was united in marriage to Shirley Schiager at Grace Lutheran Church. Ray served in the U.S. Army in Alaska in the medical corps. Upon returning home he worked for the Ford Garage as a body man for over 40 years. Ray was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Eagle’s Lodge, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He also liked to fish and enjoyed going to his grandson’s sporting activities.

Ray is survived by his son Larry (Joan) Beck of Emmons, grandsons Kevin (Becky) Beck of Coon Rapids, and their children Nathan and Evan; and Jamie (Lori) of Austin and their children Isabel, Isaac, and Jack; sisters-in-law Gretch Hanson of Hollandale and Bev Rasmusson of Albert Lea, and nephews and nieces.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley, sister Clara (Roland) Reubands, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Cleo and Clair Mansager, Maynard Rasmusson, Wayne Hanson, Gaylord and Virginia Dahl, and Bobby and Millie Schiager.

Ray’s family would like to thank St. John’s Lutheran Home for their wonderful care and Walsh and others from Grace Lutheran for their visits. Blessed be his memory.
