The memorial service for Audrey K. Nelsen will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Matthew Griggs will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Audrey Nelsen passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community. She was 90 years old.
Audrey Kathryn (Jorgenson) Nelsen was born on Feb. 15, 1922 in Lyle to Gustav and Emily (Volstad) Jorgenson. She lived in Lyle, Billings, Mont., and Hardin, Mont., during her school years and graduated from Lyle High School. During World War II she spent time working in Washington, D.C., and on Feb. 23, 1951, she married Lawrence C. Nelsen in Albert Lea. They resided in Lyle and in Albert Lea.
Audrey was a homemaker and worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Albert Lea. She enjoyed sewing, reading and bowling.
She is survived by her sons, Ernest (Mary Ann) Atchison, Lowell (Kathleen) Nelsen and Lawrence C. Nelsen Jr; daughters, Linda (Darold) Johnston, Melody (Donald) Munden and Constance (Douglas) Kaminski; grandchildren, Megan Mora, Ryan (Gina) Atchison, Stephanie (Russ) Peterson, Elizabeth Atchison, Amanda (Mike) Cambronne, Kristine (Dave) Zelinski, Peter Johnston, David Johnston, Michael (Jessilynn) Munden, Thomas Munden, Emily Kaminski, Elise Kaminski, Madeline Kaminski, Connor Kaminski, Lilianne Kaminski and Shane Kaminski; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Curtis, Nikki, Alexis, Colin, Anders, Emma, Logan and Gwenevieve; great-great-grandchild, Mia; sister, Betty Nelson of Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Jane Jorgenson of Omaha, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; in-laws; two brothers; three sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
