Austin woman injured in Highway 13 crash

HARTLAND — A 45-year-old Austin woman was injured Monday afternoon in a broadside crash on Minnesota Highway 13 north of Hartland.

Heidi Kirby was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries that were not life-threatening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kirby was driving northbound in a 2006 Dodge Cargo van when she went to make a U-turn in front of a second 2006 Freightliner tractor, driven by Terry Grunig, 61, of Truman.

Grunig reportedly veered left but collided with Kirby’s vehicle in the front bumper.

Grunig was not injured.

The crash took place at 12:25 p.m.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
