Ervin Lloyd Miller was born on June 9, 1929, to Ferdinand and Henrietta Miller in Manly, Iowa. As a child, his family moved to a farm near Twin Lakes where his character and integrity of hard work and responsibility were shaped. One day while looking out a window from his high school, Erv saw a young gal and decided someday she would be his bride. She was the beautiful Mary Helen Brua. They were married on June 12, 1949, and settled in Twin Lakes where they raised their children, Marsha, JoAnn and Ross.

Erv’s interest and skill as a craftsman began early in life. While yet a senior in high school, he started his first business doing contracting, concrete work and building homes. His most rewarding accomplishment at this vocation was building a school near Owatonna. Eventually his business also evolved into farmland drainage contracting. Erv used his spare time for woodworking hobbies and remodeling homes for Mary and others.

It was at a Christian Businessmen’s Committee meeting in Minnesota that Erv accepted Lord Jesus as his personal savior. From that point his love for the Lord gave him a strong desire to share God’s love with others. He was involved with Christian Businessmen, Campus Crusade for Christ, Missionary fellowship, Christ for India’s Children and a jail ministry. Erv also served faithfully in his home church as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent.

In serving God’s people, Erv never neglected loving his family. Every summer he would take his grandchildren and travel all over the United States. He showed them the world. When his son, Ross, was in a horrible motorcycle accident, he and Mary were at the hospital every day for months. He loved and reached out to his six grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Zachary, Trisha, Breanna and Jenna, who all expressed their deep gratitude for his example in family life and marriage through friendship and sharing the Lord.

Erv is survived by his younger brothers, Howard (Dorothy) and Merton (Edie) of Twin Lakes; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and his great-grandbaby arriving in a few weeks. He was a loving father and a wonderful husband and will be deeply missed by his many friends near and far, his children Marsha, JoAnn and Ross and their spouses Etsuro, Steve and Debra, but most of all by his loving, devoted wife of 63 1/2 years, Mary.
