DULUTH — A former Minnesota Power official has been arrested at a casino hotel in Hinckley after skipping her sentencing for corporate theft.

Police say 55-year-old Susan Kay Thompson, of Hermantown, was arrested Wednesday at the Grand Casino Hinckley hotel after a brief struggle with Pine County sheriff’s deputies.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Thompson after she failed to appear for sentencing last week in district court in Duluth. Thompson pleaded guilty to stealing from her employer and agreed to pay $150,000 in restitution. Thompson worked as director of customer service at Minnesota Power for more than 20 years before she resigned in 2010.

Thompson had a long pattern of failing to show up for court hearings before she finally appeared in December to plead guilty to felony charges.
