Floyd Freidel, 79, Blue Earth

Floyd Foster Freidel, 79, of Blue Earth, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Kristen Venne will officiate and interment will be in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.
Military honors will be accorded by the Kiester American Legion Post. Please see www.brussheitner.com to leave online condolences. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice or cancer research are preferred.
Floyd was born April 27, 1933, in Dimock, S.D., the son of Marvin and Elsie (Sperlich) Freidel. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dimock and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Walters. He served two years in the United States Army before being united in marriage to Norma Bergsather on July 10, 1955. They lived most of their married life in Bricelyn, moving to Blue Earth in 2011. Floyd worked as a mason all of his life until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. His pastimes of late were a good card game and solitaire.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Norma, of Blue Earth; daughters, Mitzi (Rod) Shirk of Eugene, Ore., Peggy Sabin (special friend Tim) of Blue Earth and Cindy (Mark) Klingbeil of Frost; son, Jeff (Jen) Freidel of Monticello; grandchildren, Brian, Brooke and Alan Shirk, Andy and Dan Sabin, Ryan, Jacob (Tina) Quade, Garret and Jordan Freidel; step-grandchildren, Bailey and Courtney Klingbeil; great-grandchildren, Logan and Leah Quade; brother-in-law, Richard (Deb) Bergsather; niece, Amy (Dave) Goette; nephews, Duane (Terry) Seedorf, Steve (Terri) Seedorf and Brad Seedorf.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Elsie; sister, Florence (Alfred) Seedorf; in-laws, Alton and Mabel (Halvorson) Bergsather; grandson, Brent Shirk; and son-in-law, Brad Quade.
