Funeral services for Laurene H. Groe will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

Laurene Groe passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. She was 83 years old.

Laurene was born on Feb. 6, 1929, in Northwood to Helmer and Lena (Leegaard) Anderson. On July 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Duane Groe at Silver Lake Church. Together they raised two children. The family moved to a farm in Myrtle in the early 1950s and in 1977 moved to Albert Lea.

Laurene was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church where she participated in WELCA and the church circles. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, walks, her grandkids and family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents, Helmer and Lena; brother, Harlan Anderson; and sister, Lillian Pixley.

Laurene is survived by her children, Debbie (Terry) Bolinger of Albert Lea and Lonnie (Jackie) Groe of Singapore/Golden, Colo.; grandchildren, Mark Bolinger, Randy Groe and Scott Groe; great-granddaughter, Myla Groe; sisters, Myrtle Berge, Carol Brudvig and Mavis Klouse; and several nieces and nephews.
