NEW PRAGUE — Students are heading back to class at New Prague public schools following a lockdown caused by a fake emergency call about a shooting.

Absent from school Thursday will be a 12-year-old boy accused of perpetrating the hoax that locked hundreds of students in their classrooms and drew a widespread response from law enforcement agencies. He was expelled.

The New Prague middle school, high school and Central Education Campus buildings were locked down Wednesday after the 911 caller said there was a shooter with an AK-47 and a couple of victims. Authorities determined no one was hurt and arrested the boy. Classes were canceled for the rest of the day.
