Worth Brewing Co. to celebrate 6 years of business

The Worth Brewing Co. will celebrate six years in Northwood from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday with special brews, food and fun.
“We opened on March 17, 2007, and it’s always been the kickoff to our spring bock season that culminates in our Spring Bock Fest April 20,” brewer Peter Ausenhus said.
Worth brews something special for its anniversary each year as well as brings in some imported bock beer.
“This year’s guest beer is Kulbacher Eisbock, a malty, strong lager. I’ve never seen it on tap anywhere in the U.S. so I’ll be first in line for a taste,” Ausenhus said.
Worth will also release its own Pegret’s Choc-O-Bock for one day only (any left will be available in April). This is a collaborative brew between owners Ausenhus and Margaret Bishop – her first brew. It is a traditional malty German bock with a dose of cacao nibs for a hint of chocolate.
The sweet theme will continue in a nod to St. Patrick’s Day, with an Irish Chocolate Stout.
“We’ll only have one keg of chocolate stout,” Ausenhus said. “We expect it won’t make it to evening.”
There will be homemade barley stew and spent-grain bread made from Worth Brewing Company’s malted barley. There also will be free dessert all day.
Other specials include stein and beer bling drawings.
Worth Brewing Company brews five year-round beers with new specialty brews each month. For more information, www.worthbrewing.com.
