Here are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Special Olympics Coaches: Starting tomorrow from 4 to 5 p.m., Special Olympics Track and Field participants begin training at Brookside Education Center. Your help and encouragement make the difference as these athletes work to complete their events; please call Jo or Crystal Carr at 377-3469 to be included in the teams.
Freeborn County Cancer Bike-a-thon: You and a team of friends are invited to do the 41st Cancer Bike-a-thon at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Sibley warming house. Registration nights are 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 2 & 3, at Skyline Plaza. Call LeAnn Juveland 402-6960 to help with the registrations and Pat Stumme at 377-7433 to help host returning riders at the warming house.
Farmers market: Volunteers at the farmers market will help children experience growing food and sampling produce at the market. Contact Verlys Huntley at 507-297-5546 to help this project grow beginning May 15 through Oct. 31.
RSVP, sponsored by Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
