Salvation Army fundraiser comes short of overall goal

The Salvation Army’s fourth annual Doughnut Days raised just over $3,800 this year.

“We were a little disappointed that we did not reach our goal, but we made the decision to cancel the outdoor sites on Friday because of the rain,” Capt. Jim Brickson said. “We are very thankful for the volunteers and donors. Success cannot be measured by just a number; it is measured by the lives that have been changed forever. The amount of volunteers that rallied around this cause wanting to give back a little time was not left unnoticed.”

The overall goal was set at $20,000.

The funds raised from the two-day event are necessary to continue programs and services within the Freeborn County area. In many locations, the Salvation Army holds the annual event to increase visibility and raise needed summer funds.
