MINNEAPOLIS — A Texas man is going to federal prison for allegedly help bilk nearly $400,000 from his former Eagan employer and then faking an illness.

U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz sentenced 43-year-old Clayton “Craig” Hogeland, to more than 16 years on Friday. He previously worked for Advantage Transportation.

Hogeland, now of Aurora, Texas, was convicted in December 2011 of mail fraud, conspiracy to commit mail fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and income tax evasion.

The judge also found Hogeland obstructed justice by faking a life-threatening medical condition that caused delays for his trial and sentencing hearing.

Another man was also sentenced to nearly eight years in prison. Hogeland’s wife was convicted of three counts of income tax evasion and sentenced to 15 months.
