You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with these or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Albert Lea Art Center: Volunteer to host guests for the Art & Garden Tour benefits you and the Art Center with fresh views from spring through summer. Several openings are available for June 28 or 29 in the garden of your choice or for volunteering in the Art on Broadway gift shop during the same times. Please call the Art Center at 373-5665 to sign up.
Older Americans and bicycle safety: May is designated nationally as Older American’s Month and Bike Safety Month! These are not mutually exclusive if you are neither older nor a bicycle rider. It’s important for all drivers and bike riders to continually scan the roads in front, to the rear and to the sides. Drivers are required, when passing a bicyclist, to allow at least 3 feet between the side of your car and the bicyclist.
Volunteer driver: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive trainings; call Senior Resources at 377-7433 for additional information and to volunteer.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
