The Joyce Matthies dancers presented their 47th recital on May 18 at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Show times were at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

This year’s theme was “The Wizard of Oz.” Music was from the 1939 movie, the Broadway and movie versions of the Wiz plus other sources being used. The journey takes the little dancers tapping to “Waggie Tail Dog” to jazz dancers performing to the “Tornado” to the ballet dancers finally “Home” and “Over the Rainbow.” Senior Ella Otten was featured in a short solo. The Joyce Matthies Dance Ensemble planned to perform throughout the recital. All the dancers performed in the opening and closing dancers.

Members of the faculty are Joyce Matthies and Heather Sadauskis. Charles Boentgen designed the lighting and Nick Gosen did the sound.
