Fashion show to go back in time

Male and female models ranging in ages from 15 to 80 will wear fashion from the 1920s to the 1990s at the Threads of Love Style Show on June 22.

“This is the second year we have done this. We had a great turnout last year,” said Mary Packer Umstead, owner of Merry Go Round Shoppe, an antique store.

Brunch will be served at the fundraiser for the Freeborn County Historical Museum, and ticket holders are encouraged to wear their own vintage attire. Tickets are not available at the door. They can be purchased for $15 at the museum, Merry Go Round Shoppe, Addie’s Floral & Gift, the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. at Bethany Hall in First Lutheran Church. Umstead and book author Joan Graham will display their collections of antique clothing, purses, hats, shoes and gloves.

“It is a labor of love for me to have collected all these years of clothes,” Umstead said.

Pat Mulso, museum director, will display offerings from her collection of jewelry. Kelly Schultz is the program director. Musician Gail Thurneau will play piano.

Umstead said around 85 outfits will be modeled. Two vintage wedding dresses will be displayed at the end.
