BEMIDJI — For a couple days at least, Minnesota’s largest dentist office will be in Bemidji.
About 1,200 professionals and volunteers hope to see and serve 2,000 patients at a two-day temporary dental clinic starting Friday. The Minnesota Mission of Mercy event will provide free dental care to children and adults who might not otherwise be able to afford it. The goal is to provide $1 million in donated care, ranging from simple cleanings to cavity fillings and even root canals in some instances.
Gov. Mark Dayton went so far as to proclaim Friday as Minnesota Mission of Mercy Day.
It’s the second year for the event. At last year’s clinic in Mankato, there were 2,062 people who got free care.
Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
