Betty Wilcox, 62, Albert Lea

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. July 22 at the First Presbyterian Church for Betty Kristine Wilcox of Albert Lea. The service will be followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. Ms. Wilcox died on Monday, May 27, 2013, at her home in Albert Lea.

Betty was born June 14, 1950, in St. Peter, the daughter of G. Charles and Mary Jane (Prince) Wilcox. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1968, attended Gustavus Adolphus College and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota.

Betty was a certified medical transcriptionist and worked for a time at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, and for more 30 years at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and was historian for the PEO.

Betty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking. She was a contributor and supporter of the Humane Society and a devoted aunt and great aunt. Betty was a member of the state professional transcriptionist group and treasurer for the Fountain View Condo Association.

She is survived by her brother David and his wife Mary Jo Wilcox of Olympia, Wash., sister Pat and her husband Joel Peterson of St. Paul, nieces and nephews Keith Wilcox, Ellen Wilcox and her husband Peter Lane, Joseph (Diana) Wilcox, Jill (Chad) Towle, and Jane Peterson and her husband Eric Jacobsen. Great nieces and nephews include Josephine and Elias Wilcox-Lane, David and Alexander Wilcox and Lincoln Towle.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Freeborn County Humane Society.
