Darlene Kathyrn Hanson, 88, of Austin, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Comforcare.

Darlene was born on a farm near Grand Meadow on June 8, 1925, to Olaf and Nellie (Wead) Paulson. She attended Austin High School. On Jan. 19, 1945, she married Albert Hanson in Northwood.

Darlene was an Avon representative for more than 40 years. She helped organize the Partyline Club, which played cards once a month. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Church of Christ as well as an active member of the Midwest Gem and Mineral Society. She was a very active member of the CB Radio Community, where she was known as “Gypsy.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Wayne Hansen; son-in-law, VerDean Johnson, brother-in-law, Adolph Dockham; and nephews.

Darlene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Diane Hanson of Ramsey; daughter, Latisha Johnson of Welch; grandchildren, Kenneth Hanson, Jeffrey Hanson, Robert Hanson, Daniel Johnson, Amy Johnson and Pamela Small; great-grandchildren, Kyle Hanson, Alex Hanson, Tyler Hanson, Jack Hanson, Sophia Hanson, Oban Johnson, Jura Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Reilly Johnson, Mitchell Small, Abigail Small and Deanna Small; great-great-grandson, Wesley Hanson; brother, Fred Paulson; sister, Betty Dockham; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin with the Rev. Stephen DeFor and Chaplain Theresa Turnbull officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service on Friday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
