Albert Lea AAUW announces its 2013 scholarship winner

The Albert Lea chapter of the American Association of University Women held its annual scholarship brunch on Sept. 7 at the Albert Lea America’s Best Value Inn to award a local young woman a $1,000 education scholarship. Lana Howe was announced as the 2013 AAUW scholarship recipient.

Howe is in her third year at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where she is majoring in community health education with a minor in coaching. This year Howe spent time in the southern Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, near Homer, working with Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships, a community-driven strategic planning process for improving community health. Howe is planning to further her education and pursue a graduate degree in public health after she completes her undergraduate degree.
