Funeral services for Connie M. Kermes, 48, of Hayward will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Niethammer will officiate. Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Connie died on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at her home.

Connie Marie Kermes was born on Sept. 22, 1964, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Gordon and Eleanor (Flugum) Ott. She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1983. On July 23, 1983, Connie was united in marriage to Matthew Philip Kermes at Salem Lutheran Church. She worked as a para educator for United Preschool. Connie was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, bonfires, four wheeling, photography and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite thing was spending time with all of the little children of United Preschool.

Survivors include her husband, Matthew; children, Whitney (Peter) Petersen and Adam (Natasha Klinghagen) Kermes; mother, Eleanor Ott; sister, Nancy Lukens; mother-in-law, Patricia Kermes; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Ott; her uncle, Glen Ott; other uncles and aunts; sisters-in-law, Kathy Farris and JoAnne Johnson; and her father-in-law, Philip Kermes.
