Horejsi breaks pool record in breaststroke

The Albert Lea girls’ swimming team trounced Owatonna 91.5-89.5 Thursday in a Big Nine Conference dual.

“We had a great meet, and the girls are coming along nicely at this point in the season,” Albert Lea head coach Jon Schmitz said.

Lindsey Horejsi re-set the Albert Lea pool record in the breaststroke by 0.59 seconds. She also holds the school record, which is 1:00.16. Horejsi also won the 50-yard freestyle.

In the September issue of “Swimming World” magazine, Horejsi’s best 100-yard breaststroke time was listed as the fastest of all high school swimmers.

Schmitz selected Bailey Sandon as the Tigers’ swimmer of the meet. Sandon won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.89 and teamed up with Horejsi, Ahnika Jensen and Samantha Nielsen to win the 200-yard medley relay.
