These volunteer opportunities are currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Carol Soma, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program interim director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Salvation Army meals: The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to help prepare and serve meals at 302 Court St., Albert Lea. Since meals are available Mondays through Fridays, they’d welcome volunteers any of those days, with shifts starting around 9 a.m. and ending after the lunch hour. If you’re interested and available, just come to the church at Court Street during morning hours. For more information, call RSVP at 377-7433.

Albert Lea Art Center: Volunteers are needed in September for two events:

• Art & Faith Gallery Show: The show is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays starting today through Oct. 11. Gallery volunteers will sit in the gallery to greet individuals as they visit the exhibit. Supervised by art center office manager.

• Art on Broadway gift shop at the Albert Lea Art Center: The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays at Prairie Wind Coffee, at 211 S. Broadway. The shop is open there temporarily until Sept. 30.

Semcac senior nutrition site in Alden: Volunteers are urgently needed to assist with meal delivery to Freeborn. They’ll be happy to schedule you for Monday, Wednesday or Friday delivery dates when you are available. Call 507-874-3781 to help out.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
