Delbert Ring, 84, Nisswa

Delbert C. (Del) Ring, 84, resident of Nisswa, died of natural causes on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home.

Del was born on Aug. 18, 1929, on a farm in Cottonwood County, the youngest of five children of Fred and Thena (Hanson) Ring. He attended country grade schools in Cottonwood, Jackson and Martin counties. He was graduated from Jackson High School in 1949, Waldorf Junior College, Forest City, Iowa, in 1951, Concordia College, Moorhead, in 1953, and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, in 1957. A Lutheran minister, he faithfully served parishes in Lignite, N.D. (First and Tonset), Esmond, N.D. (Immanuel, St. Olaf and Trinity), rural Albert Lea (Concordia Bear Lake and St. Paul of Conger) and rural Sargeant (Evanger).

He and Marvel Huwe were united in marriage on June 29, 1956, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Omaha, Neb.

Del is survived by his wife, Marvel; sons David of Savage and Pam Ianni of Denver, Colo., Daniel and his wife, Tammy Hughes, of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, and Jonathan and his wife, Teresa, of Cokato; daughter, Miriam Joy Ring, of Burnsville; and grandchildren Alex, Joel, Kelsey, Annika and Amanda.

Preceding Delbert in death were his parents; brothers Truman and Gordon; sisters Mildred and Ruth; infant daughter, Kathleen; and his daughter-in-law, Annette.

A service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa. Friends may visit with family at the church on Tuesday morning the hour prior to services.

Memorials to Lutheran Church of the Cross or Luther Seminary are preferred.
