Paul Jerome Rudolph, 48, of St. Paul left this mortal plane on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, dying peacefully at home with family present. He was a great dad, loving son and a very cool bro. Paul was born on May 3, 1965, in Albert Lea.

His work here is done, and his suffering is over. Paul was diagnosed in June with stage 4 Signet Ring Adenocarcinoma. Paul’s last months were lived in a strong and calm manner as he battled his cancer, treating others in a courteous and civil way until the very end, more concerned with how they were doing than how he was feeling.

Paul was a man of integrity. He spent his adult life running printing presses at various Twin City locations. Handy with tools, Paul built a ridable Kawasaki 900 Z1 from the ground up and worked on and repaired his own vehicles. If something needed fixing Paul could get it done. A backyard gardener, he always shared his bounty, cherry tomatoes by the hundreds, his favorite.

He enjoyed most of all being a dad, riding his bicycle, fishing, canoeing and camping. Paul is survived by his son, Aaron, the best thing that ever happened in his life. Also by his parents Allen and Virginia (nee Everson) Rudolph of Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Lynn Janzen of Rochester who was Paul’s biggest advocate during the time he spent in hospitals this summer and who was by his side 24/7 providing care and comfort until the very end; brothers Mark, Gary and Kurt; brother-in-law, Bud Janzen, of Rochester who Paul called his big brother because of their similar interests; niece, Laura (Dr. Reid) Johnson of Minneapolis; nephews Cody, Jeremiah and Tyler; step-children Amber and Allen who he loved and took into his heart as his very own; step-grandson, Landen; ex-wife, Dawn; and other relatives and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Mabel (nee Madson) Everson and Valentine and Sophie (nee Skwira) Rudolph.

The family would like to thank all the health care professionals who treated Paul with care, comfort and respect during this time and made Paul’s onward journey easier.

Memorial services for Paul were held Oct. 7 in St. Paul.
