Joel Dee Johnsrud, 59, of Mason City died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.

Joel was born Aug. 12, 1954, in Albert Lea, the son of Donald B. and Eva Johnsrud. Joel was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and Rochester Technical Institute.

Joel married Pamela Elmer of Albert Lea on Aug. 18, 1978. Joel worked for IBM and Kennedy Business Systems prior to moving to Mason City. Upon moving Joel started his own business, Cartridge Recyclers in 1996.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking vacations that have created memories that will last a lifetime. Joel will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Joel is survived by his ex-wife, Pam; daughters Amber (Shayne, Parker and Piper) and Ashley; mother, Eva; brothers Jeffory (Penny), Jay (Ann and Adam) and Jed (Donna and Sydney); and sister, Jill (Al, Cody, Caleb and Alex).

Joel was preceded in death by his father, Donald B.; grandparents Elder and Sadie Johnsrud and Alfred and Luella Wacholz; and in-laws Lowell and Corrine Elmer.
