Memorial services for Donald Howard Koppen of Ellendale will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Lisa Dodd will officiate. Friend may greet the family one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the spring at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

Donald died on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Valleyview Assisted Living in Owatonna. He was 64 years of age.

Donald was born on Nov. 25, 1949, in Albert Lea, the son of Howard and Genevieve (Paulson) Koppen. He attended public school in Ellendale. Donald lived most of his life in Ellendale and attended Clarks Grove Baptist Church.

Donald worked in the construction industry for many years and at the Grain Terminal Association co-op elevator in Owatonna.

He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He played in many different bands over the years and loved music. He also had a great love for animals and spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his mother Genevieve Wayne of Owatonna; son Chris (Cassie Kottke) Koppen of Mankato; grandchildren Michelle and Marissa Koppen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Howard; wife, Michelle (Starrett); and sister, Marilyn Kycek.
