HASTINGS — An Apple Valley man has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the murders of his pregnant wife and the fetus she was carrying.

Thirty-seven-year-old Roger Holland was sentenced Tuesday afternoon after a Dakota County jury convicted him on all charges early in the morning. The sentences carry no chance of release.

Through a statement read by his attorney, Holland denied the killings.

The jury deliberated 11 straight hours before returning its verdict against Holland in the March strangulation of Margorie Holland, who was 15 weeks pregnant.

Margorie Holland’s mother, Claudia Jones, asked for consecutive life sentences.
