MINNEAPOLIS — Relatives say a businessman fatally shot in south Minneapolis was “living the American dream” before he was killed.
Family members said Fuad Ali was a Somali immigrant, the father of two young boys with another child on the way, who had earned a degree at the University of Minnesota and owned two rental halls.
The 31-year-old man was shot early Wednesday and died later at Hennepin County Medical Center. Relative Hinda Ali says Fuad was well known in the community for hosting events and helping charities. Ali said Fuad and his wife were excited about their third child and opening their second rental hall a couple months ago. The hall is not far from where he was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound.
