Richard Dulitz, 66, Owatonna

Richard A. Dulitz, 66, of Owatonna died on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from complications with pneumonia.

He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Albert Lea to Roland and Priscilla (Tapp) Dulitz. Richard graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1965. He then attended Hamilton College studying accounting for two years. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force.

He was united in marriage to Alice Meier on Jan. 16, 1971, at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. They have lived in Owatonna since their marriage. Richard worked for Josten’s and the Owatonna Post Office. He also owned two bar establishments in Owatonna.

He was an avid bowler for many years. His passion in life was spending time at their home in Longville and fishing. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and his four-legged buddy “Bingo.”

His is survived by his wife, Alice; sisters-in-law from Albert Lea Donna Dulitz and Sharon Dulitz; sisters-in-law from Owatonna Mary Ann (Jerry) Rysavy, Arlene (LaVern) Soukup, Kathy Meier and Karen Meier; brothers-in-law LeRoy (Dorothy) Meier and Robert (Rose Mary) Meier; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and special friends Ron Braatz and Brad, Mike, Tim and Steve Ritter and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Priscilla Dulitz; brothers Kenny, Steve and Everett Dulitz; sister-in-law, Evelyn Dulitz; and father and mother-in-law Edward and Rita Meier.

A funeral Mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the Steele County Funeral Unit. A luncheon will follow service at the VFW in Owatonna
