Shirle J. Dieser, 85, of Austin, died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Shirle was born in Austin on Sept. 18, 1928, to John Killian and Mary Catherine (Horbin) O’Shaughnessy. She attended school at St. Augustine and graduated from Pacelli High School. On July 27, 1957, Shirle married Adam P. Dieser, the love of her life. Together, they raised four children and danced together every week on date night. She loved to celebrate holidays but her favorite was St. Patrick’s Day because of her Irish heritage. She was very proud of her family’s accomplishments and her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirle worked in the medical records office at St. Olaf Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1995 as the director. She remained very close to the other women in the department, getting together twice a year for the past 18 years.
Shirle is survived by her children Anne (Kenneth) Granle of Mantorville, Mark (Lisa) Dieser of Rochester, Karen O’Shaughnessy (Dennis Ross) of Wabasha and Maureen (John) Dewey of Stewartville; grandchildren Adam (Elizabeth) Kopsidas, Kenneth Granle Jr., Kendra Granle, Rebecca Dieser, John Dieser, Luke Dieser, Matthew (Beth) Dieser, Sam Fancher, Lukas Kaminsky, Shawn Trummer, Kelly Hoffman, Ian Dewey, Sheamus Dewey, Erin Dewey and Abigail Dewey; great-grandchildren Illias Hemker-Kopsidas, Alexander Kopsidas, Kiana Hoffman, Aubri Hoffman and Skylr Hoffman.
Shirle is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adam; and siblings Donald and Robert O’Shaughnessy.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Steffes officiating.Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home with a rosary and prayer service starting at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
