OAKDALE (AP) — Authorities have arrested a juvenile after a student was stabbed walking home from school east of St. Paul.
School officials say the 10th-grade boy was walking home from Tartan High School in Oakdale when he was stabbed Friday afternoon. The student was brought back to the school, where he got help.
A school district spokeswoman says the school was immediately locked down, then the boy was treated and taken by ambulance to a hospital.
The school was on lockdown for about a half-hour.
The student is being treated. The boy’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Washington County sheriff’s deputy detained a person of interest. The juvenile had fresh injuries consistent with handling a knife.
Authorities say the attack apparently was not random. No other suspects are sought.
