The Albert Lea U10 girls’ hockey team won the Mankato Meltdown tournament on Dec. 15, according to a press release.

Albert Lea beat the Minneapolis Storm 8-0 on Dec. 13. Taylor Stanek, Sadie Neist and Ally Rasmussen scored two goals each. Laynee Behrends and Mia Fjelsta both scored one goal. Maddie Schneider recorded the shut-out in goal.

On Dec. 14, Albert Lea beat New Ulm 5-1. Five skaters scored for Albert Lea: Behrends, Fjelsta, Neist, Lucy Sherman, and Josie Venem.

In the championship game on Dec. 15, Albert Lea defeated Faribault 4-2.

Faribault struck first 10 minutes into the first period, but Albert Lea responded with four goals in the second period. Scoring for Albert Lea were Lauren Cookle, Fjelsta, Rasmussen and Delani Hernandez. Fjelsta and Venem each added two assists and Hernandez added one. Albert Lea outshot Faribault 34-16. Albert Lea is 8-1 on the season.
