These volunteer opportunities are currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Carrie Paulson, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
St. John’s Lutheran Community: St. John’s is looking for a few bird lovers to assist with cleaning their bird aviaries on a weekly basis. They’ll be happy to train people who feel comfortable with birds even if you don’t have experience. If you can do this, or better yet, if you and a friend would like to work as a team, call “Carla” at St. John’s at 473-1028.
Salvation Army holiday events: The Salvation Army would love to have volunteers join them through the upcoming holiday season. In addition to helping prepare and serve meals at 302 Court St., Albert Lea, Mondays through Fridays, they’d welcome volunteers for the following events. Bell-ringing volunteers are needed from now through Christmas Eve. A variety of shifts and locations are available. The toy donation project is also coming up for the holidays, and volunteers will be needed for toy distribution on Dec. 20. For more information, call the Salvation Army at 373- 5710 or RSVP at 377-7433.
Albert Lea Art Center: Volunteers are needed for the Festival of Trees, which runs from now through Dec. 29 from Wednesday to Sunday each week.
Gallery volunteers are also needed to greet individuals as they visit the exhibits. If you can help with these positions, please call the Art Center at 373-5665 for more information or to sign up.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
