Memorial services for Donald “Bud” Arnold Brandt, 81, of Albert Lea, will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Bud died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at his home.
Donald Arnold Brandt was born on Dec. 6, 1932, to Arnold and Edna (Leschefske) Brandt in Albert Lea. In the early 1950s Donald served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1954 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hopperstad at Grace Lutheran Church. He worked for Nolan’s and Queens before going to work for Ryan’s Auto Salvage. Bud worked there for more than 40 years, retiring about 10 years ago. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of the American Legion. Bud enjoyed going to rodeos, watching bull riding, collecting things and traveling with Marilyn all over the world.
Survivors include his children Cindy (Hiep) Nguyen and Donald (Rhonda) Brandt; grandchildren Alan, Donald, Amy, Adam, Sarah, Ashley and Wesley; great-grandchildren Christian, Liam, Aleah and Hayden; sisters Mavis, Colleen and Kathy; brother, Babe; and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; and children Vicky, David and Judy.
