Richard Tenold, 61, Albert Lea

Richard Lynn Tenold of Albert Lea died on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. He was 61 years old.

He was born Aug. 1, 1952, in Albert Lea to Dean H. and Lois A. Tenold. His early years were spent in Kensett, Iowa. The family moved to Alden where he attended school and graduated in 1970. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He retired with an honorable discharge after more than 20 years of service as an aviation electronic technician. After his retirement he attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he studied sociology and philosophy.

He was an avid golfer and pool player. He also enjoyed fishing, bowling, music and dancing. He was a human rights and political activist. His greatest wish was for peace. He was passionate in what he believed in and wanted to be a changer of planet Earth.

He loved a good debate and loved to tease, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved his family, and family time was very important to him.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Tenold, of Albert Lea; siblings Rodney (Marilyn) Tenold of Albert Lea, Kimberly (Jerry) Bromeland of Elmore, Loren (Anne) Mahoney of Champlin and Kandace (Mark) Stewart of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He had a special father and daughter relationship with Kristi DeWitt of Jadesonville, Fla.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Dean Tenold; brother, Steven Tenold; and grandparents Henry (Minda) Tenold and Seymour (Hazel) Reyerson.

Details for a celebration of life are yet to be determined and announced.
