The grant is being used to continue the Photo, Slide and Negative Preservation Project. This will allow the community to enjoy the vast collection of historical photos through group photo presentations and individually at the museum. The society has to date scanned and labeled over 12,000 photographs. This is estimated to be about one-third of the collection. The funding will also be used to continue ongoing programs such as Discover History for the area fifth-graders, elementary school tours and library lock-ins for individuals working on their family histories.

Each year, approximately 3,000 students visit the museum for tours and programs. The society is currently working with local school administrators to find new ways to engage students and spark their interest in preserving history and learning from the past.
