The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Carrie Paulson, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Senior Resources/AARP tax aide: Our tax preparers need interviewers to separate tax forms to be processed by our preparers for filing taxes in 2014. Volunteers are needed from February through April. This filing assistance makes all the difference for moderate to limited income households. Call 377-7433 to start your training.
Senior Resources: Volunteers are needed from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday afternoons to answer phones, do some filing and general receptionist duties. Call 377-7433 to volunteer.
St. John’s Lutheran Community: St. John’s Lutheran Community is looking for a few bird lovers to assist with cleaning bird aviaries on a weekly basis. St. John’s would be happy to train people who feel comfortable with birds, even if they don’t have experience. If you can do this, or better yet, if you and a friend would like to work as a team, call Carla Reichel at St. John’s at 473-1028.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
