The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Carrie Paulson, Retired and Senior Volunteer program director at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Semcac/Senior Towers and Shady Oaks: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday to deliver meals from Senior Tower to Shady Oaks at 10:30 am. Would like five volunteers — one for each day. Please call Carrie Paulson at 377-7433 if you can help in this vital service.
Senior Resources/AARP tax aide: Our tax preparers need interviewers to separate tax forms to be processed by our preparers for filing taxes in 2014. Volunteers are needed from February through April. This filing assistance makes all the difference for moderate to limited income households. Call Carrie Paulson at 377-7433 if interested.
Senior Resources: Volunteers needed from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday and Friday afternoons. The volunteers would answer phones, do filing and general receptionist duties. Also we need a person to fill in for our vacationing regulars. Times available are the following: 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in February and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in the month of March. We would love to have you come and join us! Call Paulson or Marilyn Lancaster at 377-7433.
Albert Lea Family Y: The Y is in need of volunteers for its indoor triathlon on Feb. 22. This event is for people 12 years old and older. The Y will need five to 15 volunteers to help count laps and time people at the different stations. Please call Susie Hulst at 373-8228 or Paulson at 377-7433 to volunteer.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
