Albert Lea police officers arrested Joseph Jesse Madrigal, 50, for second-degree assault, first-degree attempted burglary and first-degree attempted robbery after he reportedly assaulted a 51-year-old man with an expandable baton at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday at 621 E. 11th St. The man who was assaulted was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and was later released.

Madrigal also was treated at the hospital and then was later taken to the Freeborn County jail. He is expected to be charged in Freeborn County District Court today.
